I'm looking for installation instructions for the 6x9 rear speakers for a 2002 Toyota Echo Sedan. I have removed the old speakers but I'm not sure how to install the new ones. The holes don't line up and I haven't been able to locate an adapter. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You may have to drill new holes in the vehicle. Either use a drillbit or a self tapping screw.

Yep, mark and drill new holes, about 1/8", and then use the screws that came with the speakers they should thread right in on their own.

you may need to buy an angle driver attachment to get close to the back glass to drill the back holes. i always just use self tapping screws, its way easier and faster than marking and drilling new holes. i have also seen people screw the speakers in from underneath but i would only do that if you couldnt do anything else. and make sure to watch out for any wires on the under side of the deck so you dont drill through anything important.

Thank you for the suggestions! You confirmed what I suspected, which was that there was no easy solution given the limited amount of space I have between the shelf and the back window. In the end I got hand to hold the speakers in position and the underside of the opening and marked the holes. I drilled up using the 1/8" bit and was able to mount the speakers easily after that. It went smoothly. I appreciate the help!
