Hello everyone, i recently installed a remote start system on my 2013 honda civic and it works fine no issues and has since january. Well mid to late march i noticed that my radio would go unresponsive (volume control and chanel select) and the radio and console lights would dim and kinda flicker for a few seconds before it came back. Its occuring more and more often now and im not even sure where to start. Could my remote starte be to blame? I didnt touch anythind behind the radio just under the dash and in the steering column. I havent had an issue with my lights or anythign just the radio. Im afraid that honda wont mess with it since i put the remote start in. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Tho it could be other things, first check that your battery is not on its way out. Check battery terminal connections & flink (fuselink) too.

Then I'd suggest the usual rotate all same sized/rated fuses - especially for the radio and dash lights. For any unique fuses, swap with a spare.

Then break & make relevant connectors - eg, radio, console, etc.

The above orders can be swapped - ie do the easiest first.

Did you use the red Positive wire for parking lights at the fusebox? If so, that might be the problem. Though the warning I read in the past didn't mention a problem with the radio, it might be worth taking a few minutes to check.

I know on the generation before yours, there was 2 red wires that test as parking lights. I've read that If you use the wrong one you can burn out the lighting for the cluster. Sounds like this Civic might have the same situation.

The wrong parking light wire will test just like the correct one, but loose power after a few minutes. So you need to keep your meter on the wire you are testing for a few minutes to see what it does. Also, I think that the correct parking light wire has 2 silver dots on the wire....

Or just use the gray NEGATIVE parking light wire at the switch... I started to just use the negative myself now since I'm near there anyway getting the ignition wires and data wires for the bypass anyway.
