94 Altima Power Antenna

Hello all,

Im a newcomer here and performed a search on this topic but, did not find any relating posts.

I purchased an afermarket power antenna for my 94 Nissan Altima.  On the aftermarket antenna, there are only 3 wires, one of which is a ground.  The stock antenna has several wires (5 I believe).   Can anyone possibly tell me where I can go to get a wiring diagram or wiring instructions for installing this antenna?  A wiring diagram or description of which wires go where would even be great.   I understand it's a longshot but, any help is greatly appreciated.

You're better off just using a multimeter and testing for the proper wires.  I do not remember the wiring color and even if I had a diagram we always tell people to verify the wires first with a multimeter.  I know this is probably not the answer you were hoping for but it really is the best way to go about it, especially when in doubt.

The aftermarket antenna should need a +12 volt constant, +12 volt radio switched, and a ground.  The ground you can use the same one as the factory, it should be pretty obvious and if not just run it to a spot of bare metal within about a foot or so of the antenna's motor.  The 12 volts constant should show approx. 12 volts no matter what position the key is in.  12 volts radio switched should only show approx. 12 volts when the radio is on.  Usually this means the key has to be in the "ACC." or "ON" position, but some vehicles can have their radio turned on even without the vehicle's key.  Also, on most vehicles with a cd and/or tape player, the wire will not show voltage when either of those sources are on--only when the am/fm radio is on.
