Here's my problem. I have on Rockford fosgate sub, DVC 2 ohm per coil. I need to buy a amplifier for it, but I'm not sure what will work. When the sub is wired in series I get 4 ohms, not much power from an amp unless I purchase a really expensive one. If I wire it in parallel it's only 1 ohm, not many amps can handle that. I'm looking at purchasing the Soundstream Picasso PIC2 600. Can anyone suggest a better amp, or let me know if this one is a good idea?? Thanks for helping me out here!!! Rico

Which model Rockford: HE2 (400RMS 800Peak), Punch HX2 (500RMS 1000Peak), or Power HX2(1000RMS 2000Peak)? The RMS ratings are different for each one, and we'd need that for a better match.
Were you were looking at the Soundstream amp because of the 600 x 1 @ 4ohm rating?
If you're looking for a good 600 watt amp, the JBL BP600.1 has gotten good reviews, and is 1ohm stable (although there is no power increase between the 1 and 2 ohm ratings). It will give you apx 600 x 1 @ 1ohm. ------------- Squirrel

It's the Power HX2. Yes I was. Thanks for the tip I'll check out that amp! Rico

If it's the power HX2 you might want to consider going for the 1200.1 from jbl instead, as it will more closely match with the power ratings for that sub. don't get me wrong, the sub will slam with the 600.1, but you could still have it louder with the 1200.1. Also, even though you get twice as much power, they usually cost no where near twice as much, so watt for watt the 1200.1 is a better deal. Just wanted to let you know of all the available options. ------------- Ethan

Those JBL amps look pretty good. Are they better than the Soundstream amps? Also what would you recommend for a 4 channel amp(about 60W-75WRMS)? Thanks again Rico

Absolutely. Knowing that you have RFR3112 the JBL BP1200.1 is a great match. I don't know if JBL rates based on a 14.4volt system or a 12volt system, but either way I think you would be extreemly happy with the results. Even if it was rated 1200 x 1 @ 1 ohm based on a 14.4volt system, you should still get at least 1000 x 1 @ 1 ohm on a 12volt system.
Keep in mind that with that much power comes more vehicle upgrades. You'll want to look into getting a better battery (something like an Optima Redtop or better) and possibly upgrading your alternator as well.
Are you looking at putting a 4 or 2 ohm load on each channel of the 4-channel amp? Kenwood makes some reliable 4-channel amps. You might want to check them out. ------------- Squirrel

It's the RFR3110 10 inch sub. It will be a 4 ohm load on each channel. I'm going to check out the JBL amps this weekend. One other question, I have a car with a trunk. Should I put the sub in a sealed box or ported??? Thanks Rico

Sorry about that, assumptions will be the death of us all! But the RMS rating of the RFR3110 is still the same at 1000RMS 2000Peak.
I prefer sealed. They're smaller and IMO give better overall sound then ported. It seems like you can throw more power into a sealed enclosure without damaging the sub as well. IMO ported enclosures are great to use at low power, but once you go above 500watts I'd suggest sealed. Just my opinion ------------- Squirrel

What about any other brands of amps, I need something else to look at when I'm out this weekend. I mean beside the JBL, anything else comparable? (Even if it costs more) Rico
