A previous install was a small 4 channel amp with a 8g amp kit. Well that amp died and I got a even smaller amp that actually has a 12g cable already attached to it and not designed to be removed. I really do not want to rerun a smaller gauge amp power wire, so is there any way to slice a 8g wire to 12g wire??

Use a distribution block.

Do a search for step down butt connectors. 12/10 ga to 8 ga is usually RED / yellow and they come in both insulated and non-insulated.
