07 Highlander Hybrid audio/nav wiring?
On the 07 Highlander Hybrid LTD with Nav and JBL speaker/amp, the wiring for the touch screen (which has controls for Nav, HVAC, Li+ battery, etc.) runs THROUGH the factory head unit. This means that if you replace the head unit, you lose all touch screen functionality. I would love to meet the engineer that designed it this way and kick him in the jimmy. Repeatedly.
Can anyone help with the wiring diagram or experience replacing the HU?

i would have to double check on this one but there was a generation of toyotas that until they came up with a solution we relocated the internals of the stock deck to somewhere else in the vehicle and installed a new headunit.

My approach to this would be to leave the factory screen in place and find another location for a new radio. Put a small speaker on the factory radio's left front output and hide that under the dash if any warning chimes and alerts are desired. Then its as if the new radio isn't even attached to the vehicle except for the power and ground.
