When hooking wires to amp i have always just used to screws to clamp bare wire into the connectors on amp. Is there a better way to do it? Thanks in advance.

Well... yes, and no.

Appearance-wise, yes. I've always thought the time spent to put nice terminals with boots onto the ends of my install wires was worth the effort, and it also guarantees no strays between terminals, thus safer.

Electrically, no. ANY additional connection can be a loss point, if not properly addressed. Will these probably tiny losses make a huge difference? Absolutely not, but if you want to do it correctly, a solid, proper crimp (mechanical portion of the connection) followed by a solder of the connection (to address electrical conductivity) is the way I will always do it.

As I have always considered myself a true perfectionist and very willing to go above and beyond, your mileage may vary. posted_image

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
