Okay so I haven't found any answers searching so hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me. I am pretty well versed in car audio now as I have done quite a few installs and feel very knowledgeable on it. Home audio not so much. So I have a lot of extra speakers and such from installs and I put 6 full range speakers on my walls and two 10 inch subs under my bed in my room(I like music and tv really loud). My problem is the subs don't thump at all unless I turn it up pretty loud at which point my speakers obviously are distorting and clipping. My home reciever has no sub out preamps so can I hook up a car audio amp from the home reciever? By hooking up speaker wire from the back of the reciever to the amp and a wire from positive to remote to turn it on? I just don't know what to do about the rcas. If I can hookup a car amp any way possible my problems would be solved. I understand this is not the best way to go but I have done this project from scraps and don't want to spend extra cash on a reciever, etc. any help will be appreciated!
Can you hook it up? Sure. Can you power it? Not likely. A better solution is to use a home subwoofer amp with high level inputs. These can be integrated into your subwoofer enclosures.
