As above but really only occurs on Radio. It is barely noticable on CD (passenger front left speaker only). The car is a Subaru Impreza with a Pioneer 8400 Head Unit running an Alpine 6 Speaker Sound System. Its not the Head unit, as it does this with the original 1 as well. The strange thing is when I put the Pioneer in at first it cured the problem but the Pioneer died due to a dead short in a speaker cable. It was sent to Pioneer for repair and when I got it back, it started doing the same thing as the original head unit, dreaded engine noise.

Try running new speaker wire, especially is it is only one channel.

check all grounds and make sure they are OK...

it *could* be your alternator creating interference, which the radio *could* be more sensitive to thus resulting in the difference between radio and CD...have you installed an amp?

No amp installed. How do I check the grounds?
