I have done a large audio install on a 2010 Bentley and i have noise on the main Amp
The amp is in the boot wired directly to the battery which is in the boot also
for power 4 gauge / Earth 4 gauge to battery direct or body earth post makes no difference
Noise occurs as you bring up amp sensitivity at minimum no noise but no volume at about half way pause a cd an engine type whine
you can replicate this by disconnecting the Amp RCAs and just turn up the amp sensitivity with the engine running
I expect some noise at max sensitivity but at half way i need silence
have draped speaker leads outside car and also RCAs so to me its engine generated cant get to the alternator
help

What kind of amplifier? Connect remote terminal to the battery wire so we can figure out if it is coming through wherever that connection is currently.

it could just be a defective amp.
