I have a 2003 buick park avenue and am putting in a new stereo. My aftermarket wiring harness i bought has illumination and dimmer wires, but the radio itself does not. I was wondering if a guy could possibly connect both the illumination and dimmer wire off the aftermarket harness to the factory 12 volt battery constant? and if possible would the effects work still or would it just be a waist of time?

These connections are unnecessary, but don't connect them to 12 volts constant. If you want, the simplest thing to do would be to connect the illumination wire to a positive parking light wire. That way, anytime the parking lights are on, the display will dim a set amount.

Insulate the 2 wires so they do not touch anything. You will have to look through the menu of your radio to see if there is a way to dim it.

Ignore my previous post. I misread the original post. Go with the above advice and just insulate them, or even remove them from the harness.
