Hey,

Does anyone know the wiring diagram for a Nissan Sentra 2003. I am trying to hardwire a kenwood system. I have been sucessful in hooking up all the speakers, the  +12 volt ignition wire, the +12 volt battery wire and ground. So the stereo works. But I can not make the dash board lights turn on, when I turn on the parking lights or car lights. The wiring for the deck has only a one illumination wire. But, I have three other wires unattached.  None of the three wire have any affect on the illumination. I have checked all the fuses and they are good. Can anyone help?

try checking your Timing Control Unit.  I don't know where it is located for you.  I had the same problem with my 91 maxima.  the stereo worked but the illumination on the dash didn't.

Rey,

Where is the timing control unit on your car? Mine might be similar. I used a Multimeter to check the voltage of the two wires when I turn on my parking lights, and I get a reading from both. So I believe one is my illumination and one is my dimmer. However, neither wires voltage diminishes when I turn down the dash dimmer. But, when I hook up either to the illumination wire coming from the kenwood to the car. None, light up the dash?

My TCU was under the driver side dash.  If you have the Haynes manual (which I doubt because it is an 03) for the car it should tell you, but if not I would call the dealership and ask them where it is.   My TCU had some solder connections burnt out when I finally found it.  I ran the car for about 2 years before finding the problem.  I had jerry rigged it to work, but got tired of messing with all the wires when taking the headunits in/out all the time.

On my car I didn't hook up the illumination or the dimmer wire.  I have a Kenwood KDC-9020R (same as a KDC-919).  All the dimmer wire is for is to dim the headunit when you turn on you lights.I will check on my car if my illumination wire is hooked for you tomorrow.

I'm going to call the dealship to confirm where is the TCM.

Then I see if there are any burn connections.

I don't have the illumination or the dimmer hooked up on mine.  Have you fixed yours yet.

Rey,

I called the dealership. They didn't sound too sure as to where it was supposed to be. They did say it was a black box. They said it was either in the engine bay or under the dash.  I checked the dash and found a black box with some connections. I haven't gone under the dash yet. Going to do dat tonite. Can you describe what the TCM looks like and what connections I should look for?
