I'm looking at powering a pair of 10" Skar sub's rated at 600/1200 each with a Soundstream mono claiming to be 1 ohm stable and rated 1700 watts at 1 ohm or 1100 watts 2 ohm. The sub's are dual voice coil and I can get them in either 2 or 4 ohm so there's plenty of options to wire them. My question is would it be better on my amp and performance to wire subs to 1 ohm load and turn the gain down more or wire them at 2 ohm load with the gain set higher. Thanks for any thoughts.

at 2 ohms the amps gonna work less, heat up less and have less distortion. 1 ohm is gonna make it work twice as hard since you are doubling the power output anddoubling everything. Gain is not a volume, it is to match what ever source you are getting your audio from. If the after market cd player rca's are putting out 4 volts you set the gains at 4 volts if the deck is sending out 2 volt set the amp gain to 2 volts

Thank you for the insight! I've always assumed the gains controlled the output of the amp, so essentially lowering the gain would reduce heat and distortion.
