Is it realistic to measure with sine waves?I mean we listen to music so why wouldn't we measure a dynamic track, observe the peaks and set up our systems from that data?I'm just wondering out loud and trying to get feedback from experienced professionals. Thanks!

I use a oscope to set gains on amps. Turn head unit up to 40..50 or what ever then turn the gains up to just under clipping. Easiest way to set up a amp. Have very few systems come back with a blown speaker/sub

yes, watch the sine way for when the distortion happens. the top of the curve will flatten out that's when you start clipping or distorting. None distorted will have a smooth way up and down, rounded at the top and bottom
