I have a 1500 watt sub dvc 2 and a 4000 watt amp. The amp is rated 3000 watts and 1 ohm and at 4 ohms it’s rated 750 watts. I have 0 awg wiring and I was wondering if it would be better to wire at 1 or 4 ohm.

Wire 1 ohm and keep the gain down on the amp. Use a meter to set the amp appropriately so as not to blow the sub.

When you say use a meter, what exactly is that and how do I use it.

Oh boy. Use a multimeter to meter the volts out of the amp. Use ohms law to determine how many watts that is delivering to the sub. By doing this you can set the gain so when you turn the volume up you don’t blow your sub....

What is the RMS power handling of the sub?

Said “1500” watt. But, guess I should have asked if he knew if it was rms or China peak power. Lol

The rms is 1500. It’s a 3000 watt peak. Skar vxf 12 d2

Watch this in it's entirety

You will be safe with 1 Ohm

Thanks for your help. One other question, I’m new to all this but I’ve seen in places where it said I cannot run 0 gauge wire from my battery like in a normal system. I was told I have to have an extra battery, alternator.. etc. This is my first one and I’m new to all of this. Can I run 0 gauge from my battery and everything be fine without upgrading anything.

I'm quite certain that SSL doesn't make any amps that do rated power. That VXF is a power hungry sub so you'll probably want it wired down to 1 ohm for best results. If you are over 1000 watts I recommend a 1/0 gauge run of cable from the battery to the trunk & 1/0 ground cable. That way your amp will get the current it needs now, and you'll be "future-proof" if you want to get a more powerful amp later on. You don't have to have a 2nd battery to run 0 gauge wire, but I'd recommend getting one soon. You'll also need to perform the "big 3 upgrade" to your charging system. Google it or search for big 3 upgrade on youtube. It makes a world of difference in car audio and your amp & subwoofer will thank you.
