I'm ditching the stock amplifier for an aftermarket 4 channel kenwood amp. I planned on utilizing the factory speaker wire connections rather than having to pull all the door panels off and digging a deeper hole than I need to. Only problem is that there are two front speakers, the doors and the dash tweeters. Should I just tie each side's door and tweeter together and call it a day, or is there something else i should be doing?

Your factory amp is likely to provide as much power as those original speakers can handle. My advice would be to upgrade your speakers first, then the amp if you decide.

It's likely that the tweeters are connected in parallel with the mids (with a capacitor as a filter for lower frequencies).

The factory amp is choking off my radio, likely because it's detecting it's not a bose head unit (or something else, I've no clue). I know this because 50% volume on the factory radio was clearly louder and less distorted than 75% volume on my aftermarket pioneer radio. I also had this issue in my 2015 camaro, and once I replaced the amplified it was fine. The only reason I'm upgrading the amp is for the adjustable gain controls that the factory amp lacks. The replacement amp is not that much more powerful either.

Here's are the pin-outs I found online. Not sure what sort of capacitor I should use to filter out the low end, or if one already exists or not down by the tweeter itself, but if it's wired in parallel that should be easy enough. posted_image posted_image

That makes a little more sense now. I was assuming this was with a factory system. I think the amp is reducing volume to prevent blowing your speakers. This is another reason not to amplify your factory speakers. The Kenwood ratings are likely more accurate than the overrated factory amp. You may be able to just bypass the amp and use the aftermarket deck.

What is the impedance of your speakers? Do the factory tweeters have a cap on them?

Wiring the radio directly to the speakers would actually result in me losing headroom compared to the stock system. I just want to bring things back up to normal, not crank the wiz out of it. I can barely turn it up past casual listening volume without it breaking up and sounding like crap (the problem is even worse with the navigation voice, bluetooth calls, etc).

I haven't taken a meter to any of the speakers yet, or taken a look to see if there's a cap on the tweeters, but some other forum posts suggest that they're 4ohm speakers. Since the rears are the ones that handle the mids, I was debating tying the tweeters to those so that I could use the crossover in the headunit (or amp) to remove the low end from the tweeters since i'd be cutting the low end for the mids anyway. That would leave the fronts to handle the low end bulk.

Maybe we can just agree to disagree. I will say you sound too well-versed to be a "noob".

Since you have the pinout for the amp, you can check DC resistance on the speakers there. I haven't done one, but I think it's behind the right quarter panel. You can also test if the tweeters already have caps or not:
