What kind of box would be the best for two 12 in. cerwin vega subs, model 12d4 vega series?  And what would the dimensions be?

According to page 14 of the Manual, Cerwin Vega seems to only recommend Ported (aka vented) enclosures. They give 2 volume ranges depending on the power you'll be throwing to the subs. Remember, the volumes they suggest are for 1 sub per chamber, and don't forget to factor in the sub's displacement and port size when figuring out the final "total" volume needed
