New Amp, No Difference. Is Something Wrong With My Wiring?

Recently I purchased a new 2000w mono amp to replace my old 500w 2 channel. My sub is 3500w, 1000w rms pioneer 12,wired 2 ohm.

The quality sounds better, but not much difference in boom. Almost as if I was sold a 700w, marketed at 2000. Even gains amd bass boost maxed out, it isnt much louder than my old amp.

So a few things to know....

Loc, with stock head unit
Small speaker wires, maybe 12 gauge
Amp power and ground wires are 6 gauge
Did NOT do the big 3
Alternator pushes 14 volts while playing on max, no drop

Do bigger wires give me the full 1000w im looking for?

Does big 3 give me full 1000w?

Did I buy a turd of an amp and got minimal upgrade from it?

Would a aftermarket head unit fix any power issues? (I have a Sony explode hu to put in)

Also thinking tuning inputs might help? So confusing, i have L&R gain on loc, which also has a remote bass knob. Then the amp has gain and bass boost, also a remote knob.

My Loc is tapped into both front speakers, also piggy backed the wires to power 2 extra speakers in the console. Is the fact there are 4 speakers on the same signal wires as the loc stealing power or signal from the amp?

Pioneer 12" 3500w/1000w rms
2000w mono - boss audio brand
Ported box 1.75 cu ft. Before speaker, tuned 40hz (I just thought of it the other day, and my box could be bigger, speaker takes up room I didn't account for)

Sorry for so many questions, but ive decided to actually spend money on my system for once, and I'd like to do it right.

Were you running your old 2 channel amp bridged into the same 2 ohm load you have now?
Is your new amplifier 1 ohm stable?

My old amp was only 4 ohm stable. Was pretty old but it still works fine, I had 1 voice coil bridged at 4 ohms. For a 2 ohm 1000w setup I expected more than a 10% increase, considering cutting resistance in half and also 4x the power

New amp is 1 ohm stable, but I have a 4 ohm dvc wired to 2 ohms. Should push 1000 at 2 ohms, according to amp specs.

My biggest question first, are my small wires a problem? Ive read many forums saying wire size does not matter enough to hear with the common ear.

Another thing i tried was using a multimeter and an online calculator. Said I needed to push no more than 46 volts from my speaker output. The most I got with amp gain and bass boost maxed 100% was 22 volts?

I fixed the problem. Loc gains need to be up first, then tune the amp. Amazing difference, night and day.

No replies to this, but figured I'd post it anyway.

No matter WHAT problem you are having, you should NEVER set your gains to max! But that's another matter. All I kept asking myself as I was reading your post was WHAT BRAND of amp you got. I kept guessing a low quality brand with exaggerated output ratings. Then when I finally saw your amp is Boss, my question was answered. To begin with, you should have watched youtube videos that showed tests of Boss amps before you purchased one. You probably would have chosen a different brand. I just bought a Nakamichi 2000 watt 4-channel amp, and watched a ton of test videos on it and read reviews before I bought it. It only puts out 75 watts per channel RMS and 500 watts per channel max, but the quality is a hundred times better than Boss.

People buy Boss when they need to save money, but you will never ever see anyone running a Boss amp at any car audio competitions! I think you would be much happier if you replace it with at least a cheap Pioneer amp from Walmart instead of keeping the Boss amp. But don't expect to ever find an amp with a TRUE 2000 watts of output for under a few hundred dollars or more! If you search eBay enough, or even look around at some of the car audio dealers, you're sure to find a mono block amp with more realistic power output claims than what you REALLY get from Boss audio products.

Just my opinion after messing with car audio for over 45 years!
