Wiring 6 Speakers to JL 4 Channel Amplifier

I am installing a stereo in a golf cart and have what are probably simple questions. I have 6 speakers that are 4 ohm going to a JL MX280/4 an have 2 questions; 1) if I wire the 4 speakers to front and 2 to rear I need to wire the front in series/parallel in order to have the same ohm load F/R? Is it bad to have say 2ohm in front and 4 ohm to the rear? 2) am I achieving the same effect if I wire series/parallel, for example, at the amp rather than to the terminals of the speakers? I have already run the wires for all 6 speakers so it would be a lot of work to remove and rewire if I can't get the same effect at the amp. Thanks!

2 ohm front or rear and 4 ohm on the other is fine. As long as you are no lower than 2 on any given channel.

Thanks! So, can I just wire the + to + and - to - at the amp for the speakers to be parallel or do I need to wire one speaker to the other and then to the amp?

You should wire the 4 front speakers in parallel to the front channels of your amp. The speaker +, of each speaker, to the + of the front channel of the amp and the same for the - wires. Wire the 2 rear speakers normally. This will give you a 2 ohm stereo load on the front channels and 4 ohm on the rear channels. That’s assuming all your speakers are 4 ohm.
