i recently added an amp to my tundra and i get noise w/ the engine running.  the power wire is connected directly to the battery.  the truck may have a factory amp, if i was running through the factory amp and the new amp, could this be my problem?  i was thinking a filter might help, but not sure.  anyone got any ideas on causes or remedies?

Could be one of 20 different things. Check these first:

  • make sure that the power and RCA wires are not close to each other. Run them on opposite sides of the vehicle if possible
  • make sure that your ground is clean, free of grease and that the connection is solid to metal
  • make sure that the amp gain is not set too high. If it is close to MAX, turn it back down to about 2/3 of full
  • make sure that the ground wire is less than 36 " in length from the amp
