I am working on a friends new truck. He had someone bypass the factory JBL amp and wire in a 4-channel. The component front and rear door speakers did not sound good utilizing the factory wiring so I ran new wires to all the doors and direct to the 4-channel amp. After reconnecting battery everything turns on but no volume. Before when the volume knob was turned you could see a number representing the volume on the screen. Now there is no number at all. When the button is pressed it turns off audio so I am guessing the knob is fine. Could the JBL amp have anything to do with the volume and display not working? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Is the amplifier still in the vehicle and connected?

It wasn't this particular vehicle, but I remember reading that some systems will not give you an output if they don't have a load connected to the amplifier. You may need to add load resistors to the factory amp. PAC-audio has these in both 47 and 33 ohm varieties.

Yes the amp is still in the vehicle. That would make sense being the door speaker I rewired to a aftermarket 4-channel amp was the last speaker connected to the factory amp. I am not familiar with the PAC-audio load resistors. Would these just vonnect to the output of the amp to the door speakers? Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, just connect them to the outputs of the factory amp.
