Is there any way to have the clock displayed when the radio is off but car is running? I have the manual but there is no mention of it.

Based on my owning several Kenwood head units over the years including a few Excelon units, my guess is no, the clock won't stay on with the deck power turned off. In fact I haven't seen too many decks that have that feature. Most people wouldn't want their clock on all the time I'd guess. But it would be nice if we wanted to see the time!

The radio has a constant 12V and an ignition switched 12V power supply. The clock would go off when you turn off the engine and leave the car.

The yellow constant 12v wire provides power to the memory so you don't lose your radio presets or have to reset your clock every time you power up the deck, the red switched 12v wire just provides power to the deck when you're ready to play it. On ALL my decks since they 70's I've simply wired both of these together so I could listen to my music without having to have the key on. I still have to manually power it off. Regardless of how you wire it, there is no way to have just a clock displayed with the deck power turned off. I've never seen ANY brand of head unit that allows that feature. It would be nice, but none do it. I've been into car audio for 45 years and never found even ONE deck that let you do this. I would suggest just buying an external 12v digital clock and wiring it into constant 12v if you really want that clock.
