hello i noticed my sony xplode cdx-ca810x has audio + and - out for a sub woofer. i would like to know if i can run a sub woofer to this without a amp. and what size and watts open air or closed i should get prefferably sony. thanks

No, that's a pre-amp output that is meant to be connected to your sub woofer amp.  So, you will need an amp if you intend to connect a subwoofer.

If they are RCA then they are preouts. There should be 3 sets of them on that headunit (Front, Rear, and Sub). One should be Red, the other White (for Left and Right, not + and -). All 3 sets are 2volts. DYohn is correct, they are for sending a Low Level signal to amplifiers.
