I recently installed a head unit into a 2002 Nissan Maxima and had a little trouble finding the correct wire for switched +12 Volts. When I had those connected I didn't connect the Illumination wire because I had a hard enough time finding the others. What is that wire for and do I really need it?

Illumination wire is for decks that require the additional hook up for the back lighting. Most decks now have built-in back lighting or LCD displays.

the wire for the illumination is RED / white in the car radio harness. Connect this to the ORANGE / white in your stereo harness if you would like it to work. Steve ------------- "Installing it yourself keeps my repair man busy"

The car has a dimming roll switch, so if I connect this wire, will it work in conjuction?

It should as long as you splice into the factory dimmer wire. Because when you roll that switch, it too is connected to your radio dimmer and by not connecting the ORANGE / white wire on the new deck, that dimming option will be gone.

Yes, but the wire is not the dimm wire on the HU, it's the illumination wire. Will it still work
