Does anyone know if the '97 accord came with a premium sound system (OEM amps)?

I don't think it did. At least there is no mention of any factory amps - or of any adapters to bypass any factory amps - from Metra.

Only the Bose system had the separate factory amplifiers.

Thx for the help. I've got a friend who tried to install a headunit in his wifes car but couldn't get any sound. I double checked the wiring and he had the correct harness, and had it spliced to the HU correctly. He's getting an OEM adapter with gain controls for the speakers to see if that helps. Thanks again guys
