Looking for some help designing a box for two AB Hawk 1544’s running on a Taramps Smart3… since I’ll be on the lower side for power I’m looking a going with 8 cu ft net for the pair tuning at 31 hz (AB suggests 3.7 per sub). I’m kind a hung up on the port size and was hoping for some input.   Wanting to do an aero port. Using Triticums Port calculator I should be between 84-126 in sq (when I input 3000 watts) and 69-104 in sq ( when I input 2000 watts, since I won’t be listening to test tones this is probably a more realistic wattage). When I throw it in WinISD (I’ve been told to use 2/3 of rms when modeling so I used 2000w) 10” port shows 29 m/s port velocity 11.5” shows 21 m/s. Neither so over excursion. So question is will I notice any real difference between a the two port sizes? There’s quite a bit of difference in total box volume between them so if I won’t get any real benefit with the larger port I’d rather use the 10” because space is a bit limited. And is the box size too large?
I’m not 100% stuck on these two port sizes (or aero if it a slot is a better choice) but sonotubes come as 11.5” and it be easy enough to make the diameter slightly smaller and below 10”s port velocity goes way up, that’s why I picked these two compare.
I’m add a link to a pdf of t/s parameters on AB’s site.

Apparently I’m supposed to state the vehicle though I don’t think it matters in this case… 2012 Fiat 500, backseat removed and space measured out for a box just over 10 cu ft total. Could go bigger but trying to stay below the rear window line. Subs up and port back.

I wish I could give you an exact answer but unfortunately I can not. I’ve just recently gotten back into the hobby of being a bass head and I’ve discovered that one must do their. Homework and use the t/s parameters as. A guideline and go from there. Post and ask all the questions you please only to get a thousand.looks with zero answers. I discoverred if you make it make it a lil bigger can always take away box volume one way or another. If its port length can always add or take away in small increments of course. Box too small can’t make bigger? Add more power. I think it’s a mattter of what you can live with and if you want max output are you willing to burn up an amp or 2 or a woofer or three. Me that’s where I’m at 2 and 3. I know I don’t care about test tones and burps. I’m looking for loud and clean and bang for my buck. Almost a year into itt now and I just decided to try a 15 in the set up. When the lows hit I want my truck to shake like the motor is dying when I’m going down the interstate. Best I could tell ya man. Use the parameters as a jump off point and keep a woofer and amp for back up. Because it sucks when you blow your gear and have to drive to work without your beats. Worst day ever Then on the 2nd I spotted a pawn shop pulled in and grabbed a box with mix and match tens and a old Jensen amp for a total of 60 buck. Hooked it up in the parking lot and was happy again. Then waited for the ups man to show up with some boxes. I totally went off subject.
