Hey,
What would happen if I OVER powered my subs??

IE - My subs can handle 300 watts RMS and the amp is pumpimh out 325 or 400 watts RMS

Would this destroy my voice coil, or would have to crank it up to achive meltdown??

It will sound like you have 2x many subs in the back. It's never too much power. Just set your gains accordingly on the amp and at the HU. I would say you have a perfectly matched setup posted_image

It really only gets to be a problem if you start approaching the Peak rating of the subs. Manufacturers set the RMS level as a good "constant" wattage level that the sub can handle, and can usually handle for a long time. The more power you throw into a sub (above the RMS) the less time it will last. Now that's not to say it could only make a day's difference, but a sub will last longer running it at the RMS level then at higher levels.

If your subs have 300RMS and say a 600Peak rating, then throwing 325-400 watts to them should be fine (Velocity is right, you have an above optimum level setup match). I'd start worring if it was more like throwing 500+ to them.

No problemo. Gaurantee the subs will sound good with this setup from the amp

My exact setup is;
2 Infinity 12" Subs rated at 300Watts RMS and 1200Watts PEAK, hooked up to a 2000Watt AMP running 350Watts RMS x 2 channels.

I hope this works :p
hahhaha
