A friend of mine has a Sony 1200 class D amp (mono).  IT is on a 4ohm bridge running two comp vr 12's.  Lately the "offset Light" turns on and the amp turns off.  Any ideas?  What does that mean?

Couldn't find the owner's manual for that amp, but this is what Crutchfield says of the offset protection for a different sony mono amp (same concept applies):

  • DC Offset: shuts off the amp when the speaker wires or ground lead is not securely connected, generating direct current
