You have a short somewhere. Make sure that the spot where your wire passes through the firwall has not worn through the insulation of the wire. This will short out the fuse everytime cuurent draw is present. ------------- Jeff

Hey George, do you have a central grounding configuration ? or is the other equipment on separate grounding points ? ------------- Jeff

I think I found my problem. I have the PPI PCX-2200 Right now its being powered with a 8 guage wire. Should I put a 4 gauge wire on it instead so when i raise the volume the fuse doesnt keep blowing? If I hire it up the fuse probably lasts around 1 min or so. Can anyone help

You should defiantly upgrade to a 4 gauge cable, but the size of the cable won’t cause the fuse to blow like that. Normally what happens when you overload a cable is it starts to get very hot and melts the cables casing. In your case the cable could have melted and is now coming in contact with the body causing your fuse to blow. When you upgrade your power cable make sure to upgrade the ground cable as well inspect the old cable for any damage and keep us informed.

Also is the PPI PCX-2200 the only thing being powered?

No I also have another PPI 450W. I have a power distribution box running the 2200 the other PPI, Crossover and an Epicenter. Both PPI's are running on 8G wire and the crossover and Epi are running on 14 g wire. The power cable is pretty new though But I'll just run a new on just in case. Someone told me that it would help If i put a breaker instead of a fuse holder by the battery. Is that true? I bought a 200A breaker. Should I put it on? Also the fuses to the amps are 80A and the other two are 60. Thank. Oh If the power cable was worn out wouldnt it burn out all of the fuses not jus that one fuse? ------------- George

Hey George, you mentioned in a previous post that you have a 4 gauge wire running your 3 components ? " well i have my other amp (another PPI) and an epicenter and my crossover running with the same 4 gauge and there is no problem there. Its just that one amp." Just to get this straight..... you have a 4 gauge wire running from your battery to the distribution block and from there you have an 8 gauge wire running to the PPI PCX-2200 and 4 ( ??? ) gauge to the PPI 450W, crossover and Epicenter . Is this correct ?? ------------- Jeff

no I have a 4 guage wire running to the distribution block from the battery. From the block i have 8 guage running to the two PPIs and 14 g wire running to the crossover and epicenter, and they are all grounded in the same place.

It sounds like you have ashort somewhere after the block. Do look into replacing/upgrading the 8GA to 4, and making sure it is properly fused. I'm not sur ethat that amp could pull enough current to melt the 8, but it is possible, and/or/ the wire is just run in a bad spot. Try replacing it (4 or 8) and using wire loom on any questionable spots. Check with a multimeter (if you have it) to make sure that the wire isn't shorting. Set the meter to ohms, and touch the wire and ground. The resistance should be high. If it's low (less then hundreds of ohms) you have a short. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
