Hi All,

I am trying to install a phone kit in my car and I have the Kenwood KDC-X869.  I noticed that this head unit does not have a cell mute wire.  I search through some database that and found out that on some older Kenwood units, they actually has a cell mute wire.

Is it possible to wire a cell mute of the Kenwood head units?

If the head unit  does not have that wire in its wiring harness then the feature is not supported by your particular model.  so unfortunately there is no way to hook up the mute function.

if your phonekit sends an earth out on the mute wire during calls you can use a relay to mute your radio.by using the phones mute wire to trigger the relay and break the power supply to the stereo.if you get a five pin relay and wire it as follows. terminal 30=supply from radio ie. ignition supply

terminal 87a=supply from relay to radio

terminal 86=trigger from phonekit

terminal 85=12v supply to relay coil

it is just an alternative
