When selecting the correct amplifer for subs. Is it as simple as matching the RMS of the amp to the RMS of an subs as closly if not have a little higher RMS availble throught the amp? Thanks, RL ------------- RL

Pretty much so, another thing to consider is most will recommend a class D amp for subs, but you can use a class A/B if you wanted to. Plus depending on how the subs can be wired you may also prefer to find an amp that is a class D 1 ohm stable amp. Most all are 2 ohm stable. Would think its better to have the subs picked out first, then look for an amp thats a good match for them.

In my personal opinion, that would depend on what all you are running with your amp, what kind of amp including power ratio specs, and what kind of subs including power ratio specs...

yeah, never really look at max power b/c most amps are rated at max power@2ohms @14.4V >>>BLAH BLAH BLAH, they are un-ideal conditions when it finally puts out maximum power. RMS is all you should really be worried about. If those guys are matched fairly closley then you shouldn't have a problem (give or take 20W).

try to get an amp that has a little more rms power than your subs. there is never to much power because you can adjust that but you can have to little power and that can really hurt your subs in the long run
