My alpine amp keeps going in to protect i check all the connections and they are all good whats else could it be? With the gain set a quarter way i can only turn the volume up to 21 before it cuts outs Tanks Scott

Has it always given you trouble or is a new problem? Have you checked the subs? If a sub is blown it can send it into protection mode. This article will tell you how to check the ohms of a speaker https://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/vomillia.htm if the ohms don’t come close to what the speaker is rated at then you most likely have a blown sub.

I just installed it this week its not hooked up to a sub its running my alpine 6*9 and Alpine comp. They are also brand new so i dont think the are blown and also when it does play they sound great

Also dose it go into protection mode at high volumes, low volumes or both?

Alright I got an Alpine CDA- 7995 head unit, Alpine Type R 6-1/2in comp. Alpine type r 6*9 running of the F340 amp the front speakers are running off the 1 and 2 channel and the 6*9s are off 3 and 4 channel. the subs arent hooked up but theyre amps are and it will be ok at low volumes but if i turn it up it will go into protect then it will keep coming in and out of protect at any volume

How do you have the amp Grounded? And what size power and ground cable do you have?

i have 4 gauge power to the dist. block then 8 gauge out to the amp with 8 gauge for the ground grounded to the body of te car

That amp requires a 10 gauge power and ground in order for it to work correctly. That could be causing the amp to starve for power and sending it into protection. I would also double check to make sure you have a clean surface on your ground connection.

It wouldnt be starving for power when i have 8 gauge running to it since 8 is bigger than 10 also the book right in front of me recommend 8 for te installation the ground is clean it seems like it might be overheating because my sub amps say its 114 deg. in my trunk so that might be th problem

Sorry I got a little confused there for a minuet, I’m working on several things at once. Heat could play a factor. But do you have problems with it early in the morning? Another thing that I would do is disconnect the rca's on channel 1&2 and see if it cuts out. Reconnect them and then disconnect 3&4 and see if they cut out. Post your results.
