I replaced my front factory speakers with rockford fosgate 6.5's. They worked great for the first day. The next day i took the rear factory speakers out and was going to put new 6x9's in the back but i needed to build a frame for it first. So i put my old speakes back in. I may have switched the ground wire with the positive because i didn't have any sound. I switched them and it worked again. But then some strange stuff started happening. Like i would only get sound if the drivers window was down or if i slammed the drivers door a few times. Then it might work for a while, but then all of a sudden go off agian. I don't know what's going on with it. But now just have the FRC4206U in the front and am driving around without music. So any help you offer would be great.
1) whats the make/model of your amp?
2) Having to "slam" the door makes me believe there is a loose connection, but the part about the window makes me think that perhapse the speaker wire has grounded out (insulation got stripped) somewhere inside the door. With the window down it might be moving the wire to where it isn't touching metal anymore, with the window up it touches again. Just a thought
