Hi,

Just doing my first install at the grand old age of 45, before I switch everything on I want to make sure of things on the power side.

The setup is this:

2 Amps, 1xSPLX 350W that has 10Amp fuse fitted - 1 x Xplod 440W that has 40Amp fuse fitted.
(Note: Splx feeds to 8" subs, & Xplode feeds 4 Speakers)

This is all mounted on an AMP Rack, I have a 1 to 2 Distribution box, so the Amps wire to the dist box with 8Awg Cable, then the Distribution box to the Battery with 4Awg Cable.  The Distribution box is fused with a 40Amp fuse on each circuit.

My questions are:

1.  Do you think the Fuses in the Distribution box are okay for the Splx and the Xplod

2.  Should I have a fuse between the Batt +ve and the input to the Distribtution box and if so what Amps.

On the Ground side I have employed the same basics as above; 8Awg from Amp to a dist box, then 4Awg from Dist box to the Batt -ve or should I bolt straght to chassis.

Have I missed anything or can you experts advise!!!!.

Really appreciated.

Graeme

definitly put a fuse between the battery and the dist block, i would probably go with a standard inline 60 Amp

ohh i just read the last part, dont bother running to a ground dist block, just run straight to the nearest good grounding surface on the chassis. The rest seems ok as long as those gauge wires can handle the current draw, just make sure to check out this site's wiring charts posted_image
