problem with my van. . .

i know this section's for car stereo's,  but i was wonderin if anyone knows wut my problem is.

when i turn on my van, the engine has trouble staying on and it sounds like its chocking, then it shuts off.  for the engine to stay on i gotta step on the gas.  does anyone know wut this is?  cuz i don't feel like takin it to pep boys and have 'em charge me up the ass.

Sounds like the fuel line is plugged or the fuel filter is plugged. Does the car start OK ?

no the car has trouble starting too.  i gotta hold the key in ignition or sometimes i gotta step on the gas for it to start.

take it to a garage.
this could be many things.
air restriction
fuel restriction
plug/cap/rotor/cable issue
any number of things
Let a professional handle it if you don't know where to start.
