well i recently purchased a sony xm-280gtx (2/1 channel, 480W).
specs : (1) 80W rms X 2 @ 4 ohms
(2) 100W X 2 @ 2 ohms
(3) 200W X 1 @ 4 ohms bridged
my problem begins because I bought the amp to power a single 12" sub, but I don't know how to wire it to get 400W X 1 @ 2ohms.

that is not a 2 ohm stable mono amp. is the sub dual voice coil? i assume its is cause your looking for 2 ohms. you will have to get a class d amp that is 2 ohm stable. most class d amps are mono for bass. or you could hook up 1 ch per voice coil. that is not the best way to do it butit will get you by till you get a better amp.
