We had some trouble today installing a new Panasonic CD deck into a 1990 Corolla.  We used the wiring diagrams from this board for this car, and we double checked them with another source.  We can't get any power to the deck.  We have checked the fuses and speaker connections and they are fine.  The deck will not get any power at all.  We have also tried various grounding points, and still nothing.  Please help...

Use a DMM to continuity check all fuses in the vehicle, including the ones underneath the hood.

Here's something else you might want to try (it involes taking the head unit back out of the cr but this is how I check a head unit before i even think about putting it in the car).  take the constant 12volt wire and the switched 12 volt wire  on the head unit and twist them together.  The connect those 2 wires to the positive side of a fully charged battery and connect the ground wire to the negative side.  you should then be able to turn the head unit on.  And if it turns on..the problem is with the car.  Not the head unit

Are you using a wiring harness for your car, or are you hard-wiring everything? Either way, I'd use a DMM and check to make sure you're getting 12v+ out of the constant power wire behind the radio (blue / YELLOW), and getting 12v+ when the key is in the "on" position from the switched 12v+ wire (gray).

(Do you get power if you plug the old deck back in?)
