I would run the rears off of one ch and run the tweeters and front speakers off of the other, the amp will be 2 ohm stereo so you will be ok hooking two speakers to one ch, if you are also running subs you can set the x/overs to high pass if not you could run the rears in full range and the fronts in high pass with a x/over frequency of around 100 hz.

so i would run the rears on one terminal or on two terminals?

i.e.    + - (L speaker) + - (R speaker) or + - (L & R speakers)

you will use left positive and negitive for the left speaker and right positive and negitive for the right speaker, for the fronts you will combine the left front speaker positive with the tweeters positive and the negitive with the tweeters negitive and do the same on the right side.

good question, how would you hook a sub up to this configuration? using the 4 channel amp above and having front, rear, tweeters and a sub? can anyone provide some insight?

This is how you would run the sub in a trimode configuration https://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/trimode.htm But your amp must be tri mode compatible in order for it to work.

It depends on...
1) If the amp is stable with a Tri-mode wiring scheme (consult your manual, if it's not in there then your amp can't do it)
2) What the total ohm load per channel is. Since Sony amps are 2ohm Stereo stable and 4ohm Mono stable, then you can throw whatever/how many speakers you want on the channels/bridges as long as the total ohm load does not go lower then the minimum specified impodence (ohm) level of 2ohm Stereo and 4ohm Bridged.

I'd need makes and model numbers of all your equipment to tell you for certain what you could safely do

i have a 1998 Crown Victoria and my equipment that i want to throw in there is as follows:

sony xm-404EQX 4 ch Amp

sony XS-W5721 5X7 rear speakers

Sony XS-W1321 5.25 front door speakers

Lexon 240.2 tweeters

Lexon 300.1 tweeters

how could those items be configured onto the amp? is that amp capable of handling all those items. i will have a seperate amp drive my subs (RF 301X) would I need a Capacitor?

Sorry it took so long fro me to get back to you.

Sony XM-404EQX
40 x 4 @ 4ohms
55 x 4 @ 2ohms
100 x 2 @ 4ohms mono/bridged

Sony XS-W1321
5.25" coaxial
4ohms
40RMS
160Peak

Sony XS-W5721
5x7" coaxial
4ohms
40RMS
160Peak

Lexon 240.2
1" Voice Coil
4ohm
80RMS
120Peak

Lexon 300.1
1.25" Voice Coil
4ohm
150RMS
300Peak

You would put the 5x7's in the rear, and the 5.25's in the front. It's up to you if the 1" or 1.25" tweeters are in the front or in the back. Either way...

You would hook up 1 speaker and 1 tweeter in parallel per channel on the amp (+ to + and - to -). Each channel would see a 2ohm total load and produce the 55 x 4 @ 2ohms rating (55 watts per channel).

It wont be the loudest setup in the world, and you could deffinately use a larger amp in the future if you wanted to. But basically that setup will work.

Your best bet on a different amp would be something rated around 155 x 4 @ 2ohms. Here's a couple possibilities from RF that would suite you nicely, although I'm not sure about the price...

Punch 500x
62.5 x 4 @ 4ohms
125 x 4 @ 2ohms
250 x 2 @ 4ohms mono/bridged

Punch 700x <--- Better one of the two choices
87.5 x 4 @ 4ohms
175 x 4 @ 2ohms
350 x 2 @ 4ohms mono/bridged

The RF Punch 301s is a decient amp, but not much power for subs unless you're looking to run 8's or not have a lot of "boom"
Punch 301s
75 x 2 @ 4ohms
150 x 2 @ 2ohms
300 x 1 @ 4ohms mono/bridged

What subs are you planning on running with it?

i dont know the name besides RF (waiting on them to come in from ebay). so i would use the 4 channel for the front/rear/tweeters and another amp for the subs or it a possible way to use one amp for everything? if so what kinda amp is capable of handling that type of load?posted_image

Looks like you're getting (2) RFP3410 Punch HE's. BTW, their description is wrong on eBay. Those subs are rated at 200RMS by Rockford, not 150RMS. The Peak is the same at 400 watts though.

You'll be underpowering them with the 301s. Since each sub is a 4ohm SVC, then you only have 2 wiring options...
1) Wire both subs on their own channel for 75 x 2 @ 4ohms (which would be underpowering them by 125 watts)
2) Wire both subs in parallel to 1 channel (not a bridge, just wire both subs to the same channel leaving the other channel unused) for the 150 x 2 @ 2ohms rating. Each sub would still only receive 75 watts, so you would still be underpowering them by 125 watts.

You cannot bridge the amp with those subs. If you did, you would be presenting a 2ohm mono load to the amp, which is unstable. You could cause the amp to clip, shutdown, or could damage the amp and/or subs.

You're better off with an amp that produces either 200 x 2 @ 4ohms or 400 x 1 @ 2ohms for those subs

I'v never heard of SoundStorm before, but the 4ohm specs look about right.

It's a little more expensive, but have you considered the JBL BP600.1? You could really drive those 10's with it (just keep the gains down or you'll blow them).
