That's pretty cool, would like to see that install in real life. I agree with nedgeworth comment about the box size.

Goes to show how important the enclosure is. Just looks like someone is taking the technology used on high quality home systems and putting it to use in cars, pretty cool.

Well think about like the good home bose systems and such. Most of them use 6 1/2" drivers and look at the sound they put out. The enclosure i have in my explorer has a transmission line porting system in it. I run 2 10's that absolutely kick some butt and freak people out. Like i said, its amazing what an enclosure can do for a speaker.

I have one 12" RF DVC laying around that I could use with a RF 800a2 with 1100 watts. if someone could tell me how, then I will make it.

Well, maybe i havent paid that close attention to that video, does it say how they did it??? Cause by just seeing the speakers and a big box i have no idea what they have going on inside of it. Now, for the porting system i have, the transmission line, i have a pdf file of it i could email you to show how mine is (too large a file to post on here), but to describe it, they made a slot about 2 inches wide and the height of my box, this slot is like a puzzle, it goes down one side, across the back to the other side, then back to the side it started on, the starts back a third time and thats it. So its just a slot port that makes a few turns before it ends up in the box, hope that makes sense. Hers a good article about this design: Transmission Line: Transmission Line enclosures are a design in which the driver is at one end of the enclosure, with an internal path which consists of a series of bends or curves that lead to a port at the other end of the enclosure. The path length is a fraction of the wavelength at low frequencies. Stuffing the box with either long fiber wool or polyester batting may increase the length of the path. This produces a phase shift in the back waves that reinforces bass at low frequencies. Enclosures must be very large, but low-end response of these systems is legendary among audiophiles. These designs, are tricky since no standardized method for configuring these enclosures exists. One trade off to this design may be a decrease in power handling when compared with other designs, however drivers may be capable of responding their lowest frequency capabilities.

wow. My guess is that is what it is. I was thinking of Bose the whole time I was watching that vid. That box would be impossible to make with a 12" yikes!

so basically...have the area for the sub...then make a wave in the box right...then the open section on the other end as a rectangle port the same width and length as the channel....Im i on the right track....im thinkin about makeing a scaled down one...and have it cut in half so you can see the insides and have everyones approval.... also i was good post pics of my install that i did to my ma's car...couple american pro 8's...thanks all for the help on that. ------------- I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.
