I HEARD ON SOME F 15O THEIRS A BUILT IN AMP IS THIS TRUE OR FALSE AND IF ITS TRUE WERE IS THE AMP AT I HAVE A 97 F 150 XLT

Some of them have the premium sound system with a factory amplifier.  However, as long as all of the factory radio plugs are still intact, the amp eliminator and integrator harnesses from Metra work really well if you're trying to install an aftermarket radio.  If you're doing an aftermarket 4-channel amp, Scosche has some good harnesses too for just about every application.

Sometimes the amp is located underneath the factory head unit, but other times it may be behind the glovebox, under the steering wheel, or under a seat.
