i am troubleshooting this Caddy's stock cdp/stereo and speakers. the front driver's side speaker volume is almost non-existent. was there a premium option with separate amps in this car?? everything is stock. thanks!

Yes I'm almost positive there is an internal amp in the car.  If there is you'll have to do some rewiring and get a GM harness so you can differentiate the wires in the back where the amp is.  The amp should be by the antenna of the car in the trunk behind the carpet on the wall.  (hopefully you got all that).  BUt i worked on a 93 deville and there was one and I got a nice scar because of it . (rewiring the car).  So hopefully that answers your question.  If you need any more help just write back.

If it has the bose system then each speaker has its own separate amplifier, and it's mounted to the back of the speaker's magnet.

The tuner is often in the trunk near the power antenna like sonicsound described.
