Does anyone know where I can get a replacement harness for my JVC KD-LX10? I just bought it off my friend (No, it's not stolen) and when he deinstalled it he cut the wires on the harness coming out of the back of the stero way too short, so I trashed the old harness... I've looked around online but can't seem to find anyone selling this kinda stuff....Is there any way I can "rig" up another harness or something? There are 16 pins to connect....any help would be appreciated, thanx...

contact JVC and buy one from them. that's your only real bet.. or from a JVC authorized repair center.
If you still have the old harness, just go to radio shack, get some 22-18ga barrel connectors, and crimp them onto the wires, and add as much length as you wish.

I wish I could crimp some wire onto the old harness, too short... I went to the jvc website and saw what I needed there, but I don't think I want to pay $33 for it...too bad there wasn't a way to use a different 16 pin connector, oh well.... Thanx for the help.

Nope. This in effect is how they discourage people from stealing radios.. by making replacement harnesses and cages really expensive LOL
Anyway they also change the cage and/or harness on every model as well, so as to prevent you from using a harness from a different model, or being able to fabricate one from a generic molex plug.
$33 is your solution, and if it's a decent stereo, hey.. that's no more than you'll pay for the mounting kit and factory (GM/Ford/etc) harnesses with which you'll want co connect this stereo for a proper (read: non-ghetto) install job :)

It's always the little stuff that kills ya.. heh gold battery terminals, fuse blocks, wiring harnesses, diodes, resistors, caps, chokes, cable, RCA cords, blah blah blah.. adds up quickly. ya spend $5k on components and another $1,200 on cables and parts haha
You think car audio is bad though, try home theater.. gah!
I spent about a grand on cables alone for mine.
OVER $400 for just the pair of bi-wires going from the A/V receiver to the front towers. we won't mention the optical, digital coax, RCA, component, etc cables after that

I hear ya on cables and stuff being ridiculous...but it's cool, the radio is a good radio so i will be paying the $$$ for the harness... Oh, and i always use a harness to connect to the harness in the car, i never just start cutting wires....and i got the "kit" for it too...thanx for the help.... Funny though, I feel the piece by piece component system I put together for my home theater is pretty awesome (gotta work on getting a bigger TV now, the 35 inch wega isn't cuttin it for me anymore :) and rivals most people's...but i didn't spend anywhere near $1000 on wires/cables for it, lol....ur stuff must be amazing!

It does pretty nicely. that WEGA 35" is a nice TV. their XBR line are the best direct view tubes I know, but yeah eventually for a good home system, widescreen projection is the way to go unless you really want to fork out some dough for a dedicated A/V room and go front projector.
I was picky about cables which is part of the cost, then the number I used.. heh cables for turntable, receiver, DVD changer, DSS, S-VHS, PC (two opticals), TV, sub, speakers, line conditioners, EQ, etc etc.. and I used reference line cables, which jack up the cost, but at least I know the shielding is top notch.

Thanx Velocity....found the one i needed on ebay for $5! Kick Ass setup GlassWolf!!!! That drawing u did was cool...i was going to take a pic of mine to show u but i'm embarassed now, lol....that stuff must sound amazing...wish i could hear it, i know where i'm going to watch the superbowl, tyson fights, dvds, world cup......etc. Hey when are u going to get into that new stuff, D-VHS???

haha I looked at D-VHS and stand-alone DVD-R units, but at $1600-$2k+ I'm waiting till they mature a bit.. they still don't have quite the features I want in DVD-R, and D-VHS may not last long since HDTV is imposing some new copy protection standards that will make everything current, obsolete.
