Is there a definate advantage to dampening the inside of of a speaker box, and is there really a big diffrience, im building a custom box for my prelude for (3) JL Audio 12's and Im going to be running the 1000/1 on them

The short answer is yes.  A good rule of thumb is to use good quality polyester fill (NOT fiberglass house insulation) and fill your enclosure about 1/2 way.  A great source for the proper fill is a web site called www.partsexpress.com, but there are lots of sources.
