okay I just installed my sub into my car, I have a JBL BP600.1 powering 1 alpine type R 12. now my question is, I ran all my wires with a 4 gauge amp wire kit, minus the remote wire which I installed on the power side of the car because the original remote wire came built inside my rca cables. I only used like 20 gauge wire which fits my hu but at the amp it has a huge terminal (could probably fit 8 gauge). my question is do I need a thicker gauge wire for the remote? everything seems to work fine now though. I thought the remote wire just told the amp to turn on, it wasn't handling any real current. oh well maybe somebody can clear that up for me... thanks guys!

I have seen 22 ga used as remote wire without issue...you are correct, it just has to give the amp a fairly weak +12V signal to let it know to turn on when the deck turns on...
