Hi All
This is my first time posting here. I cant believe I have never seen this resource before.
I have a 2001 Civic and want to hook up my amp and box to the factory stereo. I know, I know. I will be installing a aftermarket deck soon but a little straped for cash.
First thing. Does the factory deck have a 12 volt ingnition or aux output so i can use for the amp's relay? If it does not then i can always use a switch.
Second, I need a line input into the amp. I was thinking of using the rear speakers but am concerned about the powered output. Any ideas as to how to hook up for line input for amp???
The head unit is just factory and want to keep it as close to factory for now untill i get the kit and harness and new deck.
Thanks
Phill
You have come to the right place, this is a pretty simple install and it sounds like you have a good idea of how to hook it up. For your remote wire you will want to tap into the radios Yellow/red switched + 12 volt. As far as a signal for the amp you will want to use a good quality high to low converter and tap into both rear speakers as you said. I would suggest you use a PAC SNI-35 https://go2pac.com/products/loc.htm
