Hey there, I am planning on re-doing my whole system eventually, just as soon as I can get some dough. Anywho I plan buying 2 -12" subs and putting them into a bandpass box. I was looking at these Audiobahn's. Now are these subs good quality, or are they just not worth the money. And if these are worth my money what amp would a good run these. I'm not looking for perfect presision, nor am I looking to break world records. I want my car to be heard, and to shake me and my passanger, but I don't need something that can be heard 200 yards away. I am also trying to save money. ------------- R.Troy

Those subs can not be put in a band pass enclosure. And to be honest I would not waste your money on the subs. I ran some 08 for about a year or so and had lots of problems with them. They look nice but they are not very reliable. But if you tell us what your budget for subs and amp is maybe we can make some suggestions.

Well unfortunetly I am poor, and I'm looking to only spend a max of 500 for the subs, box, and amp. Is my goal achievable with this little money? Also I need one more opinion. I will soon enough need to replace the 6.5's in my doors, I only want to spend maybe 150 there, so any suggestions? (I usually shop ebay so I try to find myself some deals) ------------- R.Troy

Also how many watts will you be running to those 6.5's

I was planning on something small, like 80ish watts to each. I don't want my subs to drowned out everything else, so is 80watts efficent, or do I need more/less?

Sorry for the double post, I cannot figure out how to edit my old one. But with the Comp VR's should I use a bandpass box or sealed or...

When you say 80 watts are you talking about your subs or your 6.5's ?

I was talking about the 6.5's. Is that way too much, or too less? Keep in mind I am no speaker guiness, and I have no idea about wiring. After I purchase all my accessories me and my dad are going to try to wire it all up. If all else fails we'll head over to Curcuit City and get some help. ------------- R.Troy

You should be able to figure out how to install everything and if you have any ? we are here for you. But I would suggest some MB Quart RCE 216 https://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/products/prod_detail.asp?isArchive=&cat=auto&series=reference%20series&strt=1&model=RCE+216 they will give you some outstanding clarity as well as reliability. I would suggest that you give them close as to 130 watts rms and they will even out nicely with the subs.

I'm sure this sounds like a silly question, but should I go with Coaxial or Component, is it just prefrence, or do they make a big difference which one I use. Remember I want to go cheap, and if coaxial only a slight difference I would like the cheaper ones.

There used to be a big difference in sound, but now days I think it comes down to personal preference. But those RCE 216 are some nice speakers and can be found for around $180. You have to look at it as an investment if you have a good pair of speakers they will give you years and years of listening enjoyment. It ends up costing more in the long run if you keep buying speakers that you are not happy with then to just buy 1 good set.

I appreciate all the help you've giving me. I've took my notes, so now all I have to do is wait for the pay checks then I'll be on my way to a great sound system. Thanks Again!
