I am trying to install an amplified Tape Deck and amplifier (out of a '94 Explorer) into a Jeep CJ.
I have all of the wiring figured out except the "amp trigger" from the deck to the amp. It will trip a relay
in the amp appropriately, but the amp won't power up without additional current to that circuit (blue wire).

The documentation that I have also says that the red amp wire is a ground. Is that correct?

I've been working this for a couple of weeks and have the Ford wiring charts for this but they aren't giving
me the right answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bart

Does the amplifier have sufficient power going to it's main power lead? If so, and the amplifier works fine when you apply additional current to it's blue turn on wire, connect the radio's remote output to #85 of an spdt relay, connect #86 to ground, #87 to constant 12V+ and #30 to the blue wire on the amp. If all it's lacking is sufficient power on the turn on lead to work correctly, that'll solve your problem.
