I would like to know if anybody can tell me where I can buy some bulk wire at wholesale prices. I'm looking for things like 1/0, 2, 4, 8 AWG power/ground wire, various gauges of speaker wire (8-16 AWG), RCA's, and distribution blocks of all sizes and types. I've been doing enough installs lately to warrant buying some spools, and it'd be a good way to save people a lot of money compared to buying small amounts (by the foot) at a local store. I've already tried to get it from them, but they aren't too keen on the idea. Believe it or not, I don't charge people anything for installs, I do it for sheer enjoyment. I really do want to save money for these people. P.S. I would prefer to get it from someone who has the higher quality/higher strand wires.

thanks for the link, $2.75 for 0 gauge flat wire looks quite appetizing, especially with that high of a strand count. Perhaps you could tell me the difference between tin and copper strands?

Perhaps I should clarify: what is the difference between tinned copper strands and regular copper strands.

Tinned copper is easier to solder than pure copper, and has a higher temperature rating than pure copper. Silver plated copper has the highest temperature rating. The real limiting factor as far as temperature is concerned is the insulation, with standard PVC melting at around 80 C and good teflon wire being able to handle up to 260 C. Bottom line, for a given wire size (like 4 AWG) and a given insulation type, tinned wire can handle more current than can pure copper, and silver plated can handle the most since it can get hotter before there is a problem. I have some silver-plated, 70-strand, teflon coated aerospace grade 10 AWG wire that is rated at 80 amps, where standard 10 AWG is rated at 50. Always use pure copper for speaker leads.
