Im looking into these XTANT X1244 1000W 12" subs, they are 500 rms, 1000 max.  Has anyone had any encounters with these subs, they look pretty clean and are supposed to give great spl with good sq.  lets say compare them with the kicker comp vr's 12"? Im guessing these xtants would be the better sub, but thats just my opinion.  Anybody wanna give feedback?

i sell both speakers here.  xtant 's x series will spank on the compvr's.  much much better sound quality out of the xtant, with louder cleaner bass.  your guess is correct.  Just finished up a fat custom system in a new GTI, with two 10 x series, ported, in the back.  blew the customer away with how good it sounded. now, to compare the price point.  We all know that you get what you pay for, and in this instance, with a little extra bang out of the check book, a lot of extra bang in the vehicle.

the L7 is more of a spl speaker, but it also has pretty decent sound quality.  the L7 is small kine more expensive than the xtant (i guess depending on where you look for prices, but going off of my MAP pricing) and I think the Xtant will give you the clean sound that you are going for.  by the way, Xtant makes a kick ass amps.  Some of the cleanest I have ever heard.  You should check out those two, but THEY ARE EXPENSIVE, and rightly so.

I have a pair of X1244s in my hatch right now...been playing with boxes alot lately, and it is hard to make these subs sound bad...

they are a very clean woofer that will pound out the low notes if you tune them really low, and they sound good in almost any enclosure...I have had them from .75cu per woofer sealed to 2.8 cu ft per woofer port tuned to 28Hz...they will perform well in many different circumstances...and I have heard of a guy doing 150+ db with them in a really big ported box, but havent had the chance to try that out yet...

I have installed a few of these subs in other peoples cars as well, and I was purely amazed at the volume I got out of a pair of X1044s sealed in about .6 cu ft in the trunk of a convertible 95 mustang...and they spanked the low notes very well...so far they seem pretty durable too, I have been feeding mine around 700W RMS each for a long time without protest...

if you are getting them for a reasonable price, I would say grab them...they will annihilate a compVR both in SQ and volume...especially the new compVRs...

James really needs to look into things before he runs his mouth so much...

what is good james? if you are calling Xtant bad, you had better back it up with something...and mebbe give some kind of explanation for revealing your ignorance and/or idiocy...

I've never run Xtant's before, but I've heard of their reputation. This is probably the first time I've ever heard anything negative about them. I would be very interested as well to hear just why "Xtants...bad".

Try to give examples/reasoning and you wont get slammed so much. We all have our own opinions, and make mistakes as well. But just saying "Xtant...bad" doesn't cut it around here! Examples man, give examples

this is also the first time that i have ever heard anything bad about xtant.  been dealing with them for years, and just about every customer underestimated the woofers (and amps).   always had raving reviews from mags to everyday joes. was an apprentice at a custom shop a while back, and from the crazy custom enclosures, to the most basic, never heard one sound bad.  sell the x1244 for $299 out here.  excellent bang for the buck, with extrodinary clarity.  would be a great choice on a woofer, especially given the recent feedback...

posted_imageyou guys take things to heart ALOT

I have never touched an Xtant Product and with reason...I once looked into carrying the line about a year and a half ago, mainly because one of the reps i delt with for other products caried them as well, I was on good par with my rep, hence asked him about them. Story was that they suck, they have a huge amount of product return on warrently, which is slow due to all the claims they have, and their subs are their biggest downfall...When a Rep tells me his product sucks....its BAD

have a good one guys, next time just ask for an explination, don't have a temper tantrumposted_image

well, did you ever take into consideration that the rep is an idiot?

I am VERY hard on equipment...had over 34 woofers go for warranty in one warranty period...I have blown a Stroker 18 (twice) and countless other things...I am quite happy with everything but the output of the X1244s...and Im not happy with that because I really like it loud (why else would I have a Stroker lol!) and most SQ subs arent capable of the volumes I prefer...

how long ago did u look into their products? up until they discontinued their speaker line, their speakers were made by Morel...great speakers, very nice to listen to...their woofers were all rebadged MTX at that point, and I will agree that they werent the greatest, but their amps have always been solid...good performers with great SQ...

maybe you should audition products instead of baggin on them cuz someone told you so...
