i changed out my subs??? right now i have 2 mtx 6000 series 10" subs in .78 cuft sealed enclosure's running off a crossfire 1000d amp...subs wired at 2 ohms, so they should be seeing about 250watts a piece..... how much difference would it make if i got some new dvc subs (better ones, suggestions welcome) and wired em down to 1 ohm (the crossfire will run at least 1000watts at 1 ohm at 13volts) using the same .78cuft sealed enclosure?? i was thinking bout switching out the subs anyway, but if it is really not going to make that much of a difference in spl levels, then i'll just stick with the mtx's till the die and i HAVE to buy more subs.....i'd like to run two twelves, but the subs are under the rear seat of a f150 and i dont want to give up more space than i already have......

well you double your power to each sub to 500w rms you should see a spl gain. maybe you be happy with it.

and if i DID switch to a prefab box for 12's, what subs would work (looking for both sq and spl) in .7cuft of sealed airspace, and with only 5.5inches mounting depth???..still gonna use the crossfire bmf100d as well......

You could look at some Kappa perfects. Perfect

When I made that type of switch (SVC to DVC), I went from 2 Rockford RFP3412's (4ohm SVC Punch HE's 200RMS 400Peak) to 2 Rockford RFD2112's (2ohm DVC Punch HX2's 500RMS 1000Peak). I also changed amps from an RF Power 500bd to an RF Power 1000bd. OMFG! If you have the green to spend, then it's well worth the effort and time. I could not believe how much of a difference there was in SPL. I knew there would be some difference just because of the increased wattage, but having 2 DVC's is apx the equivilant of 4 SVC's. Eventually I'll be completely deaf, but what the hell... at least I wont have to listen to people wine and moan all day anymore!!! ------------- Squirrel

yeah, but will they mount in 5.5 inch depth......i have a couple of dd 12's but they need like 7 inches of mounting depth, and you cant get that under a stock ford truck seat......

What year is your truck??? I have a 97 model super cab and have the same problem about the mounting depths. But I'm gonna eliminate that problem by raising the back seat about 2 inches. Got the idea from Cardomain, check out this link and look at this guys install pics. https://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=16146&make_type_query=make%3DFord&model_brand_query=model%3DF-Series%20Pickup&tree=Ford%20F-Series%20Pickup

lol, yeah its an extracab...i'd like to keep the back seat tho.......trying to continue the stealth theme throughout... i just want to get a little more spl from the space i got......wonder how much difference in spl i'll get from 2 12's at 500rms each......the only thing is i have to find a sub that will mount in less than 6" and will sound good at .7 cubes any ideas?

What kind of MTX subs to you have do you have the single/dual voice coils. If you don't want to raise the seats you maybe stuck with MTX subs becasue most subs require a little more depth. You can look into having a box built for 10's with a little more debth but it would probably stick out a little from under your seat. The extension is barely noticeable.

they are the single coil 6000 series 10's....i was looking and the 8000 series 12's will mount in 5.56 inches but the spec sheet shows about 1cu ft for optimal sound.......wonder how much diff it will make if i only have .7??..could raise the seat 2" and that would give me~.35more cuft per sub.......then i could port the bastard and make it really slam!!...lol
